Recent significant positive developments at Pale Blue Dot Energy have crystallised a requirement to grow our business team with the addition of four new specialist posts. The specific roles identified below will help the business drive forward with its ambitious plans for low carbon industrial innovation including carbon capture and storage at our Acorn CCS project, bulk hydrogen generation from natural gas and resource and energy efficiency in areas of intensive energy usage.
You will be a specialist in commercial agreements and an experienced negotiator with a track record of innovation in new commercial space. Ideally you will have an oil and gas, power, or heavy industry background and have experience of developing and managing contracts linked with ownership, operation and decommissioning of large assets. Experience in gas transmission and/or storage would be a particular advantage, as would experience in working on contractual arrangements between government and private industry. You should be professional and rigorous in your approach and have experience working within a very multidisciplinary team.
Pale Blue Dot Energy is a company focussed fully on the energy transition. We provide strategic and advisory support to government and private industry in this area but also develop project concepts to catalyse action, engagement and investment from large industrial partners in key areas of energy transition.
Experienced Subsurface Scientist / Engineer
You will be an experienced subsurface professional, ideally with significant broad experience working field development issues with offshore oil and gas fields. You will be very familiar with North Sea challenges and have demonstrable experience of assessing subsurface sites for their carbon dioxide storage potential. You will have experience in guiding, directing and procuring integrated subsurface analysis, be familiar with subsurface risk assessment and be a natural team player.
Experienced Process Engineer with specialty in hydrogen technologies
You will probably be an engineer with a process background and a minimum of 5 years industrial experience. You will be familiar with design and construction of industrial plants and ideally with gas processing and transportation as well as process safety. Specifically you will have some experience of steam methane reformation and electrolysis to manufacture hydrogen or specific experience in the deployment of hydrogen as a fuel in either burners or fuel cells. You will have a proven capability of successful procurement and guidance of engineering contractors to deliver specialist work as required and an understanding of how to get the best performance out of a team.
Graduate Chemical / Mechanical Engineer
You will be a recent graduate ideally with some industrial work experience through placement or a full time role. You will have a strong desire for a steep learning curve and a willingness to get involved in all aspects of the business. You should be a self-starter, but also eager to take guidance from the experienced team around you. Some specific interest in the energy sector would be advantageous and you should have a keen desire to develop a “Paris Compliant” career as an engineer.
Pale Blue Dot Energy is based in Banchory Aberdeenshire, but we have team members located in the Central Belt of Scotland, the Highlands and Speyside. Flexible working candidates are warmly welcome to apply for these roles, however we would need a minimum commitment of three to four days per week.
